Great Gatsby Gala

The Great Gatsby Gala is held in December and features a performance from the BAD Ballet Company and honors community members and leaders that demonstrate a strong dedication and passion for community enrichment and empowerment. This is a formal event bringing the opulent extravagance of the Great Gatsby.  This year we'll be honoring three incredible Black women committed to serving the community. Dress to impress! 

Ballet After Dark initially began as a series of community based, dance therapy workshops before being developed into a trauma-informed curriculum. Between 2014-2018, a total of 52 trauma-informed dance therapy workshops were facilitated providing somatic intervention to over 176 youth and women impacted by violence and trauma in Baltimore City.

In 2019, we developed the curriculum for our somatic intervention program and piloted with a micro-cohort of 12 survivors. To date, our dance therapy cohort has provided resources to over 1100 youth and women in Baltimore City through cohorts, residencies, community programming and assemblies.

Ballet After Dark provides healing with the power of dance and movement, mentorship and enhanced arts appreciation through our core cohort programs and inspiring performances from the BAD Ballet dance company.

Aqua-Ballet- a 6 week cohort program for black and brown girls offering 6 beginner’s swim lessons and 6 dance therapy classes

B.A.D. Camp- a 4 week summer camp for black and brown tweens and teen girls offering a variety of somatic interventions, life skills workshops, field trips and more.

B.A.D. Girls Club- an 8 week cohort program for black and brown girls introducing STEAM through sewing and costume design. Led by a NASA engineer.

Baking & Bonding Therapy- a 6 week program for black and brown girls introducing STEAM through culinary therapy.

Periodt!- a 4 week interactive menstrual and reproductive health for workshop for Black and Brown tweens and teen girls
